Workshops for Parents, Teachers,
and Caregivers
Ready To Learn is committed to fulfilling the
national education goal that all children will attend school ready to
learn. To achieve this goal, Blue Ridge PBS offers preschool
and school-age outreach programs that combine books, exciting, interactive
hands-on activities, and educational television to stimulate a child's
natural curiosity for learning. Ready To Learn workshops always feature:
- Video Time - to highlight selected segments
of PBS programming that will illustrate its curricular goals.
- Teaching Time - to train parents, early childhood
teachers, school-age care providers, and classroom teachers how to use
media effectively in the learning environment.
- Activity Time - to develop creative exploration,
fun activities, and other educational experiences which will extend
the content of introduced by the PBS programs.
- Literacy Time - to encourage the use of books
as the vehicle for developing language skills, social skills, and a
love of learning through reading.
